Barni is a word used by the Aboriginal Bardi "Saltwater" people meaning goanna. They are throughout the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Goanna's are a delicacy for the Bardi people who use a spear and boomerang to catch them. Bardi people live as one with the land, only taking what is needed, which is vital to sustain the number of goanna's for future generations.
