The Aboriginal Bardi "Saltwater" People live as one with the sea, only taking what is needed, which is vital to sustain variety and number of fish for future generations. Bardi people recognise six seasons and the absence or presence of certain fish helps them identify what season it is. During the spring season the climate is warming up with the westerly wind begining to blow. This makes it an ideal time for spear fishing on the reef.
